Lines for Life’s YouthLine is a free and confidential peer-to-peer crisis and referral line for youth and their families dealing with a variety of issues such as bullying, anxiety, self harm, suicide, relationship issues and substance use. It is staffed from 4:00-9:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Thursday by youth volunteers between the ages of 15-18, who are supervised at all times by an adult. Teens can reach out to the YouthLine by texting teen2teen to 839863, calling our 24/7 phone line at 877-968-8491 or visiting our website to access instant messaging or send in a question over email. Our committed volunteers come from a number of different high schools across the greater Portland, OR area, and go through 30 hours of crisis line training. They develop peer helping skills, learn about substance abuse and available treatment and develop a better understanding of a broad range of youth specific issues. YouthLine is a wonderful resource for adolescents who are in need of help, as well as those that just need a peer to listen to them. No problem is too big or too small to reach out to the YouthLine for support!
